Hello, I’m Daria, I’m a Russian school pupil.
− Hello, I’m Richard, I go to British school. How are you, Daria?
− I’m fine, thanks. Tell me please about schooling in England. How many lessons do you have every day? What time do the lessons start and finish? What age do children go to school?
− I have 5 lessons every day. They start at 8:30 and finish at 4 o’clock. We have a break after the first and the third lessons. Children in England go to primary school at the age of five, and go to secondary school at the age of eleven−twelve. And what about your school?
− In my school I have around 6 lessons every day. Lessons start at 8:30 and finished at 14:15 every day. In my school we have different subjects, like biology, English, German, maths, Russian etc. Children in Russia begin going to primary school at the age of six, and go to secondary school at the age of ten.
− Oh, we also have two foreign languages. I learn German and French. And we also have Religious education. And my favourite subject is computer studies. What are you fond of?
− I am fond of art. I like painting and drawing very much. And tell me about your holidays. We have many holidays. First one is in November, then New Year celebrations, third holidays are in April and lastly three month holidays in Summer!
− We have Christmas holidays, Easter holidays and summer holidays. What about tests and examinations in Russian schools?
− At the end of every term we have to pass some tests. When we finish ninth and elevens grade we have to take examinations.
− It was nice to talk to you, Daria.
− See you, Richard.
